Mathew is a native of Farmington, Utah and was admitted to practice law in Utah in 1993. He is admitted in all state and federal courts in Utah, and the U.S. Tax Court. Matthew holds bachelors and law degrees from the University of Utah, where he was a member of the Utah Law Review, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University. Prior to joining Blackburn & Stoll, Matthew practiced law at another Salt Lake law firm for 18 years. Prior to that, he also worked as an attorney for Sallie Mae in Washington, D.C., and as a senior tax associate for KPMG in Washington D.C. and Deloitte & Touche in Los Angeles. Matthew advises clients throughout the western U.S., and has published numerous articles and given speeches on a variety of legal and tax topics. Matthew practices in the areas of taxation, real estate and business transactions. Matthew has been named by Utah Business magazine as one of Utah’s “legal elite”.
